The popular Flash Memory format is used to quickly store data from electronic devices such as digital cameras and MP3 players. Unlike DRAM or SRAM, data written to flash memory doesn't require power to maintain the stored contents. While flash memory is significantly more expensive per megabyte than DRAM or SRAM, it's portable and re-writable, making it an ideal medium for storing digital pictures and music.
