SIMCHECK II Calibration and
Upgrade
- Q. What is the
Calibration and Upgrade procedure for the SIMCHECK II family of memory
testers?
A. The continuous changes of memory technology require us
to make various hardware and component changes in our products. For example,
with the emergence of PC133, various upgrades are now required to insure that
the electronic circuitry of the SIMCHECK II PLUS can work at 133MHz. Therefore,
older SIMCHECK II PLUS units must be upgraded at the factory in a
Calibration & Hardware upgrade procedure
to bring the unit to current production specifications.
- Q. After upgrading my SIMCHECK
II PLUS, why do I get the message "Needs Factory Upgrade"?
A. This
message appears when SIMCHECK II's firmware detects an old version of firmware
in your Sync DIMMCHECK Adapter. This is also an indication that the hardware of
your main tester and/or your adapter may need additional upgrades to be brought to the current
factory standard. As individual circumstances will vary, we suggest that you
contact our Tech Support
Dept. for further details.
- Q. How often should I
calibrate my SIMCHECK II /IIse PLUS?
A. We strongly recommend that
your unit will be sent for a Calibration &
Hardware upgrade every 12-18 months. This will ensure that your RAM
checker is current to factory specifications and has the latest updates and
modifications that are necessary to run at its most optimum level. In addition,
new product developments which become available can be upgraded to your unit
when needed.
- Q. How do I determine that my
unit needs to be sent for the Calibration & Hardware procedure?
A.
Please contact our tech
support department to obtain an RMA # and pricing information. Please
also review our general RMA policy. We cannot
accept any packages without a valid RMA number.
- Q. How can I find out which
Calibration & Upgrade procedure I need?
A. A
detailed Calibration & Upgrade
information page is available for review so that you may determine
which procedure and corresponding part number are relevant to your system. We
do recommend, however, that you contact
Tech Support for further
information as individual procedures will vary.
- Q. How can I find out more
about upgrading my SIMCHECK II PLUS memory checker to the RAMCHECK
level?
A. We have included an information page discussing the process

- Q. Why should I upgrade my
SIMCHECK II PLUS to RAMCHECK, and what are the advantages in
upgrading?
A. Please review our document on

- Q. How do I send my memory
checker for the Calibration & Hardware procedure?
A. Please contact
our tech support department to obtain an RMA # and pricing information. Please
also review our general RMA policy. We cannot accept any packages without a
valid RMA number.
- Q. I own a one year old
SIMCHECK II PLUS. Can I just send the Sync DIMMCHECK 168 for factory
upgrade?
A. We generally recommend that you will perform a Calibration
and Upgrade procedure on your entire SIMCHECK II/II se PLUS every 12-18 months.
However, if your Sync DIMMCHECK 168 has a PCB marked Rev. D or E (on the lower
right side viewed from the bottom), you may be able to achieve PC-133 testing
capabilities by have only the Sync DIMMCHECK 168 upgraded, as discussed in our
Calibration & Hardware upgrade page.
Please note that when sending only the Sync DIMMCHECK 168 for an upgrade, you
may also need to send the base tester for an upgrade later.
