Upgrading SIMCHECK II adapters
to the new RAMCHECK Level

As the
manufacturer of the world's most popular portable computer memory test
equipment since 1996, we have developed numerous adapters for the SIMCHECK II.
With the advent of DDR technology, our customer our now upgrading the SIMCHECK
II to the new RAMCHECK level. This Application Note discusses the RAMCHECK
upgrade path for the various SIMCHECK II adapters.
Adapters that are upgradeable to the RAMCHECK level
The following SIMCHECK II adapters are upgradeable to the RAMCHECK level:

Our Solution for Obsolete SIMCHECK II Adapters which cannot be upgraded to RAMCHECK
The SIMCHECK II supported many old devices, like the 72-pin S.O. DIMM, which have been obsolete for many years. Since the cost of developing the PCB and the software for a comparable RAMCHECK adapter requires us to make sure that we can sell 50-100 units, we must be very selective regarding which old memory types we continue to support on our new equipment.
Of course, we understand that some customers still need support for these old devices. In order to allow all our customers to upgrade their SIMCHECK II level product to the RAMCHECK level, we are offering a special refurbished "stripped down" version of the SIMCHECK II/LT without any of the SIMM test sockets. This minimal base tester includes the 90-pin expansion socket so that it can be used for all the old SIMCHECK II adapters.
