This document explains the Quick Basic Test feature of the RAMCHECK memory tester and illustrates its setup and use. It also provides some suggestions on how to increase overall throughput of your quick tests. Since the Quick Basic is a partial test, it is not recommended for most users.

WHAT IS QUICK BASIC TEST

The regular Basic Test of RAMCHECK is generally divided into two main group. The first group is the wiring, speed, and structure identification tests. The second group is the memory array test during which the entire memory array is tested. While the first group is extremely fast (less than a second), the second group consumes the bulk of the time of the Basic Test.

The Quick Basic test is achieved by replacing the second group, the memory array test, with a partial test that checks only a small section of the array. This significantly reduces the test time to only few seconds. We have developed the Quick Basic test in response to specific requests from manufacturers who have already tested the individual chips used on the module and they are more concerned with simple wiring short/open defects on the module.

CAUTION: Since Quick Basic is only a partial test, the user must be aware that only a portion of the module is tested. The test software automatically adds the following message to the Test Log:

HOW TO SET UP QUICK BASIC TEST

You setup Quick Basic Test using the Testflow Setup feature. From Standby, select F2 to enter Setup. Select F2 again to activate the Testflow Setup. Please continue in accordance with the following screens:

		Press F3 to select Edit Test Features.
		Press F1 to edit Basic Test.
		Use the right arrow button to display the Quick Basic selection, and press F1 to activate.
		The final screen allows you to skip the lengthy test result screens that normally follows Basic Test. Use the Up/Down arrows to select your option.

COMBINING QUICK BASIC AND PRODUCTION MODE

Manufacturers who use the advanced Production Mode may combine it with Quick Basic if they just need to quickly program a group of previously tested modules. You may also skip the test results as indicated above.
