affordable testing of expensive LRDIMM modules
Houston, Texas – June 7, 2016 –
INNOVENTIONS, Inc., the leading manufacturer of portable
computer memory testers, announced today that its
RAMCHECK LX DDR3 memory tester has been updated for
testing and identifying LRDIMM (Load-Reduced) DDR3
memory modules found in high-end servers.
“DDR3 LRDIMM modules are primarily used on memory-dense
servers, and they are quite expensive,” said Dr. David
Y. Feinstein, President of INNOVENTIONS. “This update to
our RAMCHECK LX DDR3 tester gives memory dealers and
data center techs a powerful tool to spot and identify
defective LRDIMMs. Considering that these LRDIMM modules
cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars, the RAMCHECK
LX DDR3 tester can pay for itself pretty quickly.”
The RAMCHECK LX DDR3 tester (part number INN-8686-DDR3)
tests and identifies JEDEC-compliant DDR3 RDIMM, UDIMM,
LRDIMM, and SO-DIMMs. No special setup is required. The
DDR3 Series DIMM adapter included with the tester
features a rugged, easy-to-use Zero Insertion Force test
socket. Existing RAMCHECK LX customers can add DDR3
LRDIMM testing to their systems at no charge just by
updating the firmware over the internet.
Because LRDIMM modules use a memory buffer, the test
flow for these modules differs from the standard
RAMCHECK LX test flow. Currently, DDR3 LRDIMM modules
are tested by a modified (and significantly longer)
Basic Test. First, the memory module’s size, structure,
and type are automatically detected. Then RAMCHECK LX
DDR3 quickly spots bad memory chips and alerts the user
with a warning tone and visual signal via LED and a
large, vivid LCD panel. Compared with testing on a
motherboard, which can take many hours or even days, the
Basic Test for a 32 GB DDR3 LRDIMM module may be
completed in about 13 minutes. After the Basic Test
ends, the test results screens remain on the tester's
